A former travel agent in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, has been sentenced to three years in prison after she was found guilty of fraud.
According to the Saskatchewan StarPhoenix, Leslie Glauser was ordered to repay $200,000 as part of the joint sentencing, as a result of ongoing fraud between 2014 and 2016, during which she withdrew funds from 250 victims, encompassing $1 million.
Glauser formerly owned T&T Travel Ltd. in Kindersley, which she purchased in 2001; when business became bad, rather than shut down, Glauser continuned to operate by fraudulent means, continually withdrawing money from the business while encouraging clients to book at a discounted rate. Complaints surfaced that Glauser would book vacations and take money, but the flights and hotels were never confirmed.
In total, 200 victims received compensation, but the remaining 50 did not, representing individual losses of up to $30,000. T&T Travel Ltd. is now permanently closed.
