Holland America hosted 16 agents onboard the Noordam for a ship inspection and lunch in Vancouver on Sunday (May 7).
The ship is spending the summer cruising to Alaska on seven-night Glacier Discovery cruises between Vancouver and Seward. Launched in 2006, the Noordam carries just over 1,900 guests. Agents toured the public areas, as well as the standard inside, oceanview and verandah staterooms as well as the Neptune Suite.
One stand-out feature on Holland America's staterooms is a bathtub in oceanview category and above, which is great for families. Stateroom size is also generous, starting at 140 square feet.
A nice area on the upper deck is the Retreat. This all-ages area offers private cabana space for rent, with cushioned loungers, shady gazebos and dedicated wait staff who will serve food and provide misting or cold towels service. Cabanas can be booked for the day or for the entire duration of the cruise.
In the Greenhouse Spa, passes allowing unlimited access to the thermal loungers, steam rooms and hydrotherapy pool are also available for purchase. Passes can be purchased for the day, or for the entire cruise. Both the Retreat and Spa passes are hidden gems and offer great options for relaxation.
Over the past few years, Holland America has entered into numerous partnerships to enhance its onboard entertainment and culinary experience, including B.B. King's Blues Club, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, BBC Earth, Billboard Onboard, and America's Test Kitchen. The newbuilds already include these venues, while the rest of the fleet will be outfitted as they each go through their drydock renovations. B.B. King's Blues Club and America's Test Kitchen are currently in place on the Noordam.
Holland America will be spending $300 million to renovate its fleet, with $45 million spent on upgrading the suites alone. The Noordam is scheduled for its drydock renovation in May 2018.
Additional Holland America ship tours will be available throughout the summer. Contact your local Business Development Manager for upcoming dates.
