Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has named a number of new appointments recently, including several at its properties throughout Western Canada:
- Fairmont Chateau Whistler welcomes Isabel Chung as executive chef. Chung began her culinary career in 2001 at the Delta Bow Valley, Calgary, holding the roles of second cook and first cook. Expanding her experience internationally, she transferred to the Fairmont Southampton in 2005, as senior chef de partie and then was quickly promoted to sous chef. Chung later returned to Canada as sous chef, Fairmont Chateau Whistler, in charge of banquets and subsequently restaurants. Most recently, Chung held the position of executive sous chef, Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle.
- Robert Lemieux has been appointed as regional director of sales & marketing for Central Canada and Fairmont Royal York. He brings more than 12 years of senior hotel management experience to this role. Lemieux has held various sales leadership roles with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Canada and the U.S. and most recently was the executive director of sales & marketing for Fairmont Banff Springs and the brand’s mountain region in Western Canada.
- Karen Wilson has been appointed as regional director, sales & marketing, Canada’s Western Mountain Region. She brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience to this position, joining Atlific Hotels & Resorts, Toronto as sales coordinator. She later was appointed as provincial association and corporate sales manager, Hilton Canada Toronto. Wilson joined Fairmont Royal York in 1997, where she held progressive roles within Conference Services, catering and sales. In 2011, she was promoted to her most recent position as director, sales & marketing, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. During her career, she also had opportunities to assist with task force special projects in Kenya, Singapore and China.
